Throughout the Spring and early Summer, Council actively engaged stakeholders through several meetings and presentations. These efforts were intended to increase the awareness of Council’s role as the regulator of forest management activities on managed forest land.
Council and staff met and gave presentations to elected officials and local government staff in several coastal BC locations:
- The Association of Vancouver Island Coastal Communities Convention in April
- The Regional District of Nanaimo Board Meeting in May
- Sunshine Coast Regional District Infrastructure Committee in July
Council also participated in the Ladysmith Water Users Community Forum in May and gave a presentation to the Private Forest Landowners Association during their AGM in June.
In addition to Communications outreach on the Coast, Council toured the Kootenays, which included presentations to local governments and visits with managed forest owners. You can read more about this tour here.
These forums provided an opportunity for participants to interact with Council and staff on forest management practices and key environmental issues of local interest.
